Keys For Kids
Not to be confused with Keys Fork Ids, my other thing
Keys for kids is an idea for a 501 C-3 Non-Profit that connects PIANOS to people that want them.
The idea is that here in the Pioneer Valley, there are a lot of pianos in various states of repair that are in homes where they go unplayed, unloved and often unwanted. Also here in the Valley, we have a ton of young people that want to be musicians, and their families have room for a piano, but no money to buy one, and no knowledge about care and feeding of pianos.
Our service would start with a website where people can fill out a FORM if they have a piano they want to give away. We can help with valuing the piano for tax purposes. We collect details on the piano itself, what shape it is in, the last time it was tuned. We collect details on where it is located, apartment/house what floor, if it will be an easy or difficult move. We schedule the pickup and provide the tax receipt for the donation.
We bring the pianos to our warehouse where they are cleaned, assessed, and if capable, tuned. Pianos that are no longer able to be kept as musical instruments can become parts monsters, and artwork.
From the Recipient's end, they also start at the website, where they fill out an application for a FREE Piano. We collect information about who wants the piano, what purposes they have, who might be playing it. We ask where it will be located.
When a matching piano (size) is available, we'll schedule the delivery and setup.
As part of the free piano process, we'll offer an IN-Home tuning (as needed) after delivery.
To promote the program, we will host an Annual Concert, where recipients and other notable pianists in the area are invited to a free show and fundraiser for the program.
Anyone that has received a Piano and no longer wants it after any length of time, we'll come back and pick it up.
