Pedal Power
Keep your powder dry.
I'd like to have a stationary device that I can hook my electric bike to, so that when I'm home I can recharge the battery by riding indoors.
I can imagine a dystopian future where rich people pay poor people to pedal-power-up equipment like eBikes and just about everything else. The technology has been around since well before the 1970's to use pedals to spin stuff, this is just an extension of that.
I realize the loss of power via transfer is probably high, but it's a cool idea all the same.
Were access to burnable resources limited, or the technology behind converting heat to motion were lost, it wouldn't be unlikely for physical motion to be used to run previously electrically run devices. Bicycles are wildly efficient, and our legs are our largest muscles. We don't harm ourselves when we pedal and we can do other things at the same time, like reading books, watching media or talking.
I guess the next step is to look into the existing pedal power technologies and see what is available on the open market.
